US President Donald Trump has warned Iran that the United States will intervene if Iranian authorities use violence against peaceful protesters.
In a statement posted on his Truth Social account, Trump said that if Iran resorts to violence or kills peaceful demonstrators, the United States would step in to protect them. He emphasized that Washington is fully prepared to act if such a situation arises.
“We are completely ready to go in and save the protesters,” Trump wrote, issuing a direct warning to Tehran over its handling of ongoing demonstrations.
Reacting to the statement, Ali Larijani, an adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, condemned the remarks, calling any US involvement in Iran’s internal protest movement an attempt to spread chaos across the region.
Larijani said Trump should understand that American interference in Iran’s domestic affairs would only worsen instability and fuel regional unrest.
Iran has witnessed widespread protests in recent days over rising inflation and the sharp decline in the value of its currency. According to reports, clashes between Iranian security forces and protesters on Sunday resulted in the deaths of six demonstrators, while at least 30 others were arrested.
