The number of monkeypox cases in Lahore has increased after four more infections were confirmed in the provincial capital, according to the Punjab Health Department. Officials say the spread of the virus in the city remains a concern, prompting heightened monitoring and preventive measures.
CEO of Mayo Hospital, Professor Haroon Hameed, confirmed that four new patients have tested positive for monkeypox and are currently undergoing treatment. The confirmed cases include 30-year-old Sultana Aram and 25-year-old Hamza, both of whom were diagnosed after laboratory testing.
He further stated that 33-year-old Nauman and 18-year-old Anas have also been confirmed as monkeypox patients following lab results. All affected individuals have been shifted to isolation wards at Mayo Hospital, where they are receiving complete medical care under strict health protocols.
Health authorities have urged citizens to remain vigilant and immediately seek medical attention if they experience symptoms such as fever, skin rashes, or unusual lesions. The department emphasized the importance of following preventive guidelines to curb the spread of the virus.
The Punjab Health Department continues to monitor the situation closely and has assured the public that necessary steps are being taken to manage and control the outbreak effectively.
