Indian authorities have arrested national shooting coach Ankush Bhardwaj following serious allegations of rape made by a 17-year-old national-level shooter, according to Indian media reports.

The minor athlete has accused the coach of sexually assaulting her during a stay at a hotel in Delhi, where she had traveled for a shooting event and a performance review session, media outlets reported.

Following the complaint, Haryana Police took Bhardwaj into custody and registered a formal case against him. The arrest came after the victim’s family submitted a detailed written complaint to law enforcement authorities.

Police officials said that investigations are underway, with statements being recorded from all relevant parties. As part of the probe, Faridabad police have also requested CCTV footage from the hotel where the alleged incident took place.

Indian media reported that the shooting association has suspended Ankush Bhardwaj from his duties and launched an internal inquiry into the matter.

Authorities stated that all legal procedures are being followed, and further action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
