Nine Killed as Avalanche Hits House in Chitral’s Domel Area

At least nine people lost their lives after an avalanche struck a residential house in the Domel area of Chitral, local authorities confirmed on Tuesday.

According to the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Chitral, a massive avalanche collapsed onto a house, resulting in the deaths of nine individuals, while one child sustained injuries in the incident.

Officials stated that the deceased included four women and five men. Rescue teams recovered all bodies from the debris and shifted them to a nearby location for further legal and medical procedures.

The injured child was provided immediate medical assistance, while authorities continued to assess the situation amid harsh weather conditions in the region.

Meanwhile, in Khyber district, rescue operations are ongoing in the Tirah Valley, where internally displaced persons (IDPs) were stranded due to recent heavy snowfall.

Deputy Commissioner Khyber Bilal Shahid said timely measures were taken under the supervision of the district administration, ensuring that all affected families were safely relocated to secure areas.

Authorities have urged residents in snowbound regions to remain cautious as adverse weather conditions persist across several mountainous areas.
