PCB Considers Appointing Mike Hesson to Oversee Multan Sultans Operations

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is reportedly considering assigning Pakistan’s white-ball head coach, Mike Hesson, to manage both administrative and cricketing affairs of the Multan Sultans. Sources indicate that initial consultations have concluded, and an official announcement is expected soon.

Following the departure of Multan Sultans owner Ali Tareen from the Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise, the PCB is set to oversee the team’s operations directly for the current season. In this context, the board is exploring the formation of an interim or new management structure, with Hesson likely to play a key role.

Sources suggest that the announcement regarding who will manage the Multan Sultans could come before the PSL auction for two new teams scheduled on January 8 in Islamabad. The PCB reportedly wants to resolve any uncertainties about the franchise ahead of the auction to maintain the league’s administrative stability.

There are also indications that current captain Mohammad Rizwan’s position could be affected under the new management. While a leadership change is possible, no final decision has yet been made regarding the team’s captaincy.

Meanwhile, cricket legend and former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram is arriving in Islamabad to sign his contract as the PSL brand ambassador. The PCB plans to further enhance Akram’s promotional and diplomatic role within the league.

The PCB has recently taken steps to strengthen the PSL’s organizational framework and improve transparency in franchise management, reflecting its commitment to more robust governance of Pakistan’s premier T20 competition.
