Gulf countries led by Saudi Arabia have expressed strong opposition to any potential U.S. military attack on Iran, warning that such a move could severely disrupt global oil markets and harm the American economy, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal.

The newspaper reported that Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Oman have privately cautioned U.S. officials against launching an attack on Iran. These countries fear that military escalation would destabilize global energy supplies, triggering sharp fluctuations in oil prices with direct consequences for the U.S. economy.

While publicly maintaining a low profile, the Arab states are reportedly engaged in behind-the-scenes diplomatic lobbying aimed at preventing U.S. military action. Their primary concern is that conflict with Iran would send shockwaves through the global oil market, leading to economic repercussions worldwide.

According to the report, Saudi officials have also reassured Tehran that the kingdom does not seek confrontation with Iran and will not allow U.S. forces to use Saudi airspace for any attack. This stance is seen as part of a broader effort to distance the Gulf states from potential hostilities and to discourage military escalation.

Arab governments are particularly worried about the strategic Strait of Hormuz, through which nearly one-fifth of the world’s oil supply is transported. Any disruption to tanker traffic in this narrow waterway — which separates Iran from its Arab neighbors at the entrance to the Persian Gulf — could severely impact global energy flows.

The Wall Street Journal noted that the Trump administration has not publicly clarified what type of military action it may be considering against Iran, although U.S. officials have indicated that the possibility of an attack remains high.

A White House official told the newspaper that President Donald Trump has all options on the table regarding Iran. While the president listens to differing viewpoints, the official said, the final decision ultimately rests with him.

Tensions escalated further after President Trump directly addressed Iranian protesters a day earlier, urging them to resist government efforts to suppress demonstrations and to seize control of state institutions. Writing on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump posted a cryptic message saying, “Help is coming.”
