A powerful explosion struck near the Pak-Afghan border in Chaman, killing at least five people and leaving several others injured.
According to local authorities, the blast occurred close to the Bab-e-Dosti (Friendship Gate) at a taxi stand, where explosives had reportedly been planted. The force of the explosion caused widespread panic in the busy border town.
Rescue teams and security personnel immediately rushed to the site, shifting the injured to District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital Chaman. Medical staff confirmed that several of the injured are in critical condition.
Security forces quickly cordoned off the area and launched an investigation into the incident. Officials have yet to determine the perpetrators, but sources suggest the attack was aimed at destabilizing the already sensitive border region.
The Chaman border has been a flashpoint for violence in recent years, with frequent incidents of targeted attacks and cross-border tensions. Authorities fear the latest blast could further heighten security concerns in the region.
