Pakistan registered a crucial five-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in the Super Four stage of the Asia Cup 2025, keeping their hopes of reaching the tournament final alive.

Batting first, Sri Lanka managed to post 133 runs for 8 wickets in their allotted overs. Pakistan’s bowlers, led by Shaheen Shah Afridi, restricted the opposition with disciplined spells and timely breakthroughs.

Chasing a modest target, Pakistan started confidently but faltered in the middle overs, losing four wickets in quick succession. The collapse gave Sri Lanka a chance to turn the game around, sparking tension among Pakistani supporters.

However, Hussain Talat (32 not out) and Mohammad Nawaz (38 not out) held their nerve, stitching together a steady partnership to guide Pakistan across the finish line with just a few balls to spare.

The win gives Pakistan a much-needed boost in the points table, while Sri Lanka, already under pressure, face a difficult path ahead in the competition.

Cricket experts hailed the performance of Pakistan’s lower middle order, highlighting their ability to handle pressure in high-stakes situations. The result sets up a thrilling final leg of the Super Four stage, as teams battle for a spot in the Asia Cup final.
