Beijing/Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, currently on an official visit to Beijing, held a telephonic conversation with the Chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) today.
During the call, the Prime Minister was briefed about the ongoing relief and rescue operations being carried out under NDMA’s supervision, particularly in connection with the recent natural calamities in the region. He appreciated the authority’s efforts in coordinating relief work and emphasized the need for timely assistance to the affected families.
The Prime Minister instructed the NDMA to remain fully vigilant and ensure that no delay occurs in the provision of emergency aid, especially in disaster-hit areas. He also directed close coordination with provincial governments and relevant departments to maximize the effectiveness of relief operations.
Shehbaz Sharif assured that the federal government will extend all possible resources and support to NDMA to strengthen its capacity for managing natural disasters. He further stressed the importance of transparency and efficiency in aid distribution.
The NDMA Chairman reaffirmed the authority’s commitment to carrying out the Prime Minister’s directives and informed him about the ongoing measures for effective disaster response.
