A historic ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas has officially come into effect, bringing an end to nearly two years of intense conflict in Gaza.

The ceasefire, mediated by U.S. President Donald Trump, includes key conditions designed to ensure stability in the region:

  • The truce took effect at noon today, with the release of remaining hostages expected within 72 hours.
  • The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have pledged to withdraw from newly occupied areas, while humanitarian aid convoys will be allowed into Gaza.
  • Hamas, in turn, is required to cease all military operations and surrender heavy weaponry under international supervision.

The agreement has been welcomed globally as a hopeful step toward lasting peace in the Middle East. However, analysts remain cautious, noting that the success of this truce will depend on whether both sides adhere to their commitments in the days ahead.
