Microsoft has launched its first AI-based text-to-image generator, named MyImage 1, designed and developed entirely in-house. The move signals a reduced reliance on partner company OpenAI for AI technologies.
The company revealed that MyImage 1 was built with feedback from creative professionals, aiming to produce photo-realistic images with mastery over lighting, landscapes, and other elements. Microsoft claims the tool can generate images faster and more efficiently based on user prompts.
MyImage 1 joins Microsoft’s other AI products, including MyVoice 1 AI and the chatbot My 1 Preview. Previously, Microsoft had invested in OpenAI, but over time, the relationship has become more complex, prompting the company to focus on developing its own AI models.
Recently, Microsoft also began integrating Anthropic AI models into certain features of Microsoft 365, while continuing significant investments in proprietary AI research.
Currently, MyImage 1 is not available for general public use, with Microsoft keeping it limited to selected testing and professional applications.
