Nineteen new dengue cases were reported in three government hospitals, bringing the total in the past three months to 908 patients. Over 90 patients remain admitted, many after receiving ineffective treatment from private clinics.
A senior doctor at Holy Family Hospital criticized private practitioners for lacking proper dengue training, urging the public to avoid self-medication and seek prompt medical advice if fever persists for more than three days.
The Punjab government continues to provide free treatment and dengue testing at government hospitals, where care is reportedly better. Authorities have also launched a campaign against private clinics that fail to report dengue cases or refer serious patients to public hospitals.
Most patients are coming from areas including Afandi Colony, Khyaban-e-Sir Syed, Pindora, Dhoke Kashmirian, DAV College Road, Chaklala Cantonment, and other neighborhoods of Rawalpindi.
