During the latest round of Pakistan-Afghanistan negotiations in Istanbul, Pakistani officials presented a firm and final stance to the Afghan Taliban delegation, emphasizing that Islamabad will no longer tolerate the Taliban’s patronage of terrorist groups operating against Pakistan.
According to security sources, Pakistan made it clear that concrete and verifiable measures must be taken to eliminate terrorism from the region. Officials expressed dissatisfaction with the Taliban’s responses, describing their arguments as illogical and detached from ground realities.
The sources further stated that it appears the Afghan Taliban are pursuing a separate agenda that does not align with the peace and stability of Afghanistan, Pakistan, or the broader region.
The future progress of these talks, they added, depends entirely on the Taliban’s willingness to adopt a constructive and cooperative approach.
