The Government of Pakistan has announced a temporary reduction in petroleum product prices, which will remain effective for the next 15 days, starting from October 16 to October 31, 2025. This step aims to provide some relief to consumers amid ongoing inflation and rising living costs.
According to official sources, the price of petrol has been decreased by PKR 5.66 per liter, bringing the new rate to PKR 263.02 per liter. Similarly, the diesel price has been reduced by PKR 1.39 per liter, now standing at PKR 275.42 per liter. The kerosene oil price has also been adjusted, with a reduction of PKR 3.26 per liter, making the new price PKR 181.71 per liter.
The government’s decision is part of its broader efforts to stabilize the energy sector while easing the financial burden on ordinary citizens. Analysts note that such temporary reductions can provide immediate relief but may not fully offset the impact of global oil price fluctuations or domestic supply challenges.
Consumers are advised to take advantage of the reduced rates during this period, while authorities continue to monitor market conditions to determine if further adjustments may be necessary. This move comes as part of ongoing measures to ensure affordable energy access and maintain economic stability in the country.
