Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has lauded Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for his unwavering support of Pakistan during times of heightened tensions with India, calling him a “rock-solid friend” who stood by the nation when it mattered most.

Speaking at a ceremony in Islamabad marking Turkey’s 102nd Republic Day, the Prime Minister congratulated the Turkish people and government, emphasizing the deep-rooted and historic ties between the two brotherly nations.

“Today, as the flags of Pakistan and Turkey wave together in Islamabad, we celebrate not just Turkey’s national day but also our enduring friendship,” Sharif said.

He highlighted Turkey’s remarkable progress under President Erdoğan’s leadership, describing it as a model of development and resilience. “Turkey’s journey of prosperity is full of achievements that make the Muslim world proud. Mustafa Kemal Atatürk laid the foundation of modern Turkey, and President Erdoğan has carried that legacy forward as a global example of leadership and vision,” he added.

Sharif further said that Pakistan and Turkey share a unique bond rooted in faith, history, and mutual respect, noting that Ankara has always stood by Islamabad in times of crisis.

“When India showed aggression, our armed forces responded with courage under the leadership of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir. During those difficult moments, President Erdoğan stood like a rock beside Pakistan — a gesture that truly reflected our unbreakable brotherhood,” the Prime Minister stated.

He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with Turkey, saying both nations continue to work together for regional peace, prosperity, and shared development.
