The Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has issued a public advisory, warning that internet services across the country may experience slow speeds or temporary disruptions due to scheduled maintenance work on an international submarine cable.

According to the official PTCL statement, the International Cable Consortium responsible for managing the undersea cable system has announced a maintenance schedule to repair a faulty repeater installed in the cable line.

The repair operation is set to begin on October 14 at 11:00 a.m., and according to PTCL, the work is expected to take around 18 hours to complete. During this period, users may notice sluggish internet performance, temporary disconnections, or difficulty accessing certain websites and online services.

PTCL assured the public that alternate data routes are being utilized to minimize the impact on customers and that technical teams will monitor the situation closely to ensure service continuity as much as possible.

“Our top priority is to maintain stable connectivity for users. The maintenance work is essential to ensure long-term stability and better performance of international internet links,” the PTCL spokesperson stated.

The company further added that once the maintenance is complete, internet services will return to normal speed and stability.
