At least seven militants were killed and six Pakistani soldiers, including a young captain, embraced martyrdom during a counterterrorism operation conducted by security forces in the Kurram district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement on Tuesday.

According to the ISPR, the operation was launched on intelligence reports indicating the presence of militants described as “Indian-proxy extremists” in the Dagar area of Kurram. The security forces swiftly surrounded the location, triggering a fierce exchange of fire.

During the intense gun battle, seven terrorists were killed, while Captain Nauman Saleem, a brave young medical officer, along with five other soldiers, laid down their lives defending the motherland.

The fallen heroes were identified as Captain Nauman Saleem, Havaldar Amjad Ali, Naik Waqas Ahmed, Sepoy Ijaz Ali, Sepoy Muhammad Waleed, and Sepoy Muhammad Shahbaz.

ISPR highlighted that Captain Nauman Saleem not only provided critical medical assistance on the frontline but also fought courageously alongside his troops until his last breath.

Security forces have launched a clearance operation in the surrounding areas to eliminate any remaining militants linked to foreign-backed extremist networks.

The ISPR reaffirmed that Pakistan’s armed forces and law enforcement agencies remain fully committed to eradicating the menace of terrorism from the country, vowing that no foreign-sponsored group will be allowed to destabilize national security.
