U.S. President Donald Trump reportedly pressed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during a tense White House meeting to accept Russian President Vladimir Putin’s conditions for ending the war. According to a Financial Times report, Trump warned Zelensky that Putin had threatened to “destroy” Ukraine if Kyiv refused to comply with Moscow’s terms.

The report revealed that Trump insisted Ukraine should surrender the eastern Donbas region to Russia as part of a ceasefire deal. The meeting, which took place two days ago at the White House, was described as heated, with Trump allegedly becoming frustrated and forcefully urging Zelensky to agree to the plan.

Despite the pressure, sources said Zelensky managed to convince Trump to support a ceasefire based on the current front-line positions, rather than further territorial concessions. Following the meeting, Trump publicly stated that “it’s time to end the bloodshed” and suggested that both sides “declare themselves victors and leave the rest to history.”

The discussion marks a major diplomatic shift, raising questions about U.S. policy on Ukraine under Trump’s leadership. Analysts say that accepting Russia’s terms could weaken Ukraine’s sovereignty and embolden Moscow’s future aggression. The report has sparked debate in Washington and across Europe over how far the United States might go in reshaping the peace process.
