Anushka Sharma Set to Make Comeback After Seven Years with Netflix Sports Biopic ‘Chakda Xpress’

Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma is all set to return to the screen after a seven-year hiatus with her much-awaited sports biopic “Chakda Xpress”, which will premiere exclusively on Netflix instead of cinemas.

According to Indian media reports, the film — inspired by the life of Indian cricketer Jhulan Goswami — had completed shooting a long time ago but faced significant delays due to creative disagreements between Netflix and the production company, particularly over the film’s final sequences and post-production.

Reports suggest that Netflix had raised objections regarding the film’s concluding scenes. However, recent developments indicate that both parties have resolved their differences, and the movie is now expected to release soon.

In “Chakda Xpress”, Anushka Sharma will portray legendary fast bowler Jhulan Goswami, who represented India in international women’s cricket from 2002 to 2022. Goswami, hailing from the small town of Chakda in West Bengal, inspired the film’s title.

This marks Anushka Sharma’s much-anticipated comeback to acting after a long break, with fans eagerly awaiting her powerful performance in a story celebrating determination, resilience, and women’s empowerment in sports.
