The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) has been rocked by a major controversy following allegations of biased reporting and manipulated footage in a documentary about former U.S. President Donald Trump, leading to the resignations of Director-General Tim Davie and CEO Deborah Turness.
The uproar centers around a BBC documentary that featured Trump’s January 6, 2021 speech, parts of which were allegedly edited and rearranged to make it appear as though Trump had directly urged his supporters to “march to the Capitol” and “resist strongly.” The edited program aired just a week before the U.S. elections, drawing widespread criticism.
According to a leaked internal report obtained by The Telegraph, the BBC was also accused of showing anti-Israel bias in its coverage of the Gaza war, further fueling claims that the broadcaster had failed to maintain political impartiality.
In response, the BBC is reportedly preparing to issue public apologies over its handling of the Israel-Hamas conflict, transgender-related coverage, and the Trump documentary incident. Meanwhile, the White House has labeled the BBC a “propaganda machine,” escalating diplomatic tensions.
Following the resignations, former President Trump thanked The Telegraph for exposing the controversy, calling it a “victory for truth and accountability.”
