Tensions flared in Karachi following the tragic death of a citizen who was struck by a dumper truck on Nishter Road. The situation turned volatile when angry locals set the vehicle ablaze and later confronted Liaquat Mehsud, the President of the Dumper Association, who arrived at the scene with his armed guard.
Eyewitnesses reported that as Liaquat Mehsud appeared at the site, the enraged crowd surrounded his vehicle, chanting slogans and protesting against repeated accidents caused by reckless dumper drivers. In a shocking turn of events, Mehsud’s security guard fired shots into the air as they attempted to leave the area. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
Locals accused Liaquat Mehsud of prioritizing the protection of dumper operators and vehicles over the loss of human lives. “He shows up after every incident, but never for the victims,” one protester said.
Earlier, a dumper had fatally hit a man named Shahzaib, injuring his wife. The tragic incident prompted residents to burn the truck in anger. Police later arrested the driver, identified as Niaz Hussain, and shifted him to the Garden Police Station for investigation.
Authorities are now reviewing CCTV footage and have deployed additional forces to prevent further unrest in the area.
