Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian announced that Tehran will reconstruct its damaged nuclear facilities with greater strength, saying that destroying buildings and factories will not hinder the country’s nuclear infrastructure and that Iran is not pursuing nuclear weapons.
Speaking to state media during a visit to the Atomic Energy Organization, Pezeshkian said Iran retains the technical knowledge required to rebuild any site that was damaged and vowed the facilities would be restored more robustly than before. He reiterated previous assurances that Iran does not aim to acquire nuclear weapons, framing the reconstruction as a civilian and defensive response.
The remarks come after precision strikes in June that hit several Iranian nuclear-related sites — attacks Tehran has blamed on the United States and Israel. U.S. President Donald Trump has warned that Washington would order further strikes if Iran attempts to restart the bombed facilities, a threat that authorities and commentators say raises the risk of renewed confrontation.
Analysts say Pezeshkian’s vow is intended to signal resilience and deter further pressure, but it may also heighten tensions with countries that view Iran’s nuclear infrastructure as a proliferation risk. International observers and mediators are watching closely as diplomatic channels strain under the threat of military escalation.
