Mexico’s 25-year-old Fatima Bosch has been crowned Miss Universe 2025, securing the title despite weeks of controversy surrounding the global beauty pageant.

This year’s competition, held in Thailand, featured participants from 120 countries. Bosch impressed judges and audiences worldwide with her confidence, composure and standout performances, overcoming intense scrutiny and pressure.

Thailand’s contestant finished as the runner-up, while representatives from Venezuela and the Philippines secured spots in the top five. Pakistan’s Roma Riaz, also 25, participated in the event, and Palestine was represented for the first time by Nadine Ayoub.

Bosch, who studied fashion design in Mexico, has been active in social advocacy and public-awareness campaigns. She previously won the Miss Mexico 2025 title in September, solidifying her reputation as one of the year’s most prominent contestants.

The 2025 Miss Universe pageant attracted headlines not for glamour alone, but for its controversies. Weeks before the final, a senior pageant director publicly insulted Bosch during an event, calling her “stupid” in front of attendees—an incident that sparked global backlash.

In response, Miss Mexico stated that every woman, especially one representing her nation, deserved respect. The remark triggered a solidarity walkout by several contestants, forcing pageant leadership to confront mounting criticism.

Despite the turmoil, Bosch’s victory marks a significant moment for Mexico, reaffirming her status as a leading figure within the pageant world and a voice for women’s dignity and empowerment.
