NIPA Chowrangi to Federal Urdu University Shut Until December 30

A key section of University Road in Karachi — from NIPA Chowrangi to Federal Urdu University — will remain closed from November 10 to December 30 due to ongoing development work under the K-IV Water Supply Project, officials confirmed.

According to the Karachi Water and Sewerage System Improvement Project (KWSSIP), the road closure is necessary to lay new water pipelines along a 2.7-kilometer stretch of University Road. The work is part of the city’s augmentation plan to enhance the water distribution network.

In the first phase, a new pipeline will be installed between NIPA Chowrangi and Federal Urdu University, while the second phase will extend the project from Hasan Square to NIPA Chowrangi.

Officials stated that 96-inch and 72-inch water lines are being installed as part of the K-IV initiative, with December 30 set as the final completion deadline. During this period, traffic will be diverted from NIPA Chowrangi toward Aladdin Park to maintain flow and minimize congestion.

Authorities have urged commuters to plan alternate routes in advance and cooperate with traffic personnel during this essential infrastructure upgrade.
