The Government of Pakistan has rejected the misleading statement issued by Afghan Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid regarding the recent Istanbul negotiations between the two countries.
According to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Afghan spokesman’s comments distorted the facts surrounding the talks held between Pakistan and Afghanistan. The ministry clarified that Pakistan had demanded the arrest of terrorists operating from Afghan soil, a point raised firmly during the Istanbul discussions.
The statement further noted that when the Afghan side made certain claims during the meeting, Pakistan immediately offered to take custody of the identified terrorists and explained that their transfer could be arranged through official border entry points.
The Ministry emphasized that Pakistan’s stance remains clear, consistent, and on record, asserting that the false claims made by the Afghan side are baseless and contrary to facts. Officials reiterated that Islamabad’s position on terrorism and cross-border security is guided by the need for peace, stability, and mutual respect in the region.
