Pakistan Shaheens booked their place in the Rising Stars Asia Cup final after clinching a narrow five-run victory over Sri Lanka A in a tense second semifinal.
Batting first, the Shaheens posted 153 for nine in the allotted 20 overs. Ghazi Ghouri anchored the innings with an unbeaten 39, while Muaz Sadaqat added 23. Ahmed Daniyal and Saad Masood contributed 22 runs each to build a competitive total.
Sri Lanka A’s bowlers kept pressure throughout the innings. Pramod Madushan delivered the standout spell, claiming four wickets, while Traveen Mathew picked up three to restrict Pakistan in the closing overs.
Chasing 154, Sri Lanka A fought valiantly but fell short, finishing on 148 for nine in their 20 overs. Milan Rathnaike top-scored with 40, keeping his team in contention until the final stages.
Pakistan’s bowlers held their nerve at crucial moments. Saad Masood and Sufyan Muqeem led the attack with three wickets each, denying Sri Lanka A the momentum needed to cross the finishing line.
The thrilling win sealed Pakistan Shaheens’ place in Sunday’s final, where they will face Bangladesh for the Rising Stars Asia Cup title.
