Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the achievements of the Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute (PKLI) as it marked the completion of 1,000 successful operations, calling it a testament to perseverance and vision.

In his address, the Prime Minister said, “The plant we planted in 2017 has now grown into a strong and flourishing tree.” He expressed gratitude to the medical teams and management for restoring PKLI’s prestige and serving millions of patients across the country.

Shehbaz Sharif highlighted that over 4 million patients have benefited from PKLI’s services since its inception. He noted that the institute once faced deliberate attempts to undermine its operations, including the dissolution of its Board of Governors, which rendered it nearly nonfunctional.

“When I assumed the office of Prime Minister in 2022, I prioritized the revival of PKLI,” he said, adding that the Punjab Chief Minister’s dedication and leadership played a vital role in the institute’s restoration.

He further stated that 80% of PKLI’s treatments are provided free of cost, ensuring that underprivileged citizens receive healthcare that meets international standards. The Prime Minister lauded the entire PKLI team for their tireless efforts in rebuilding and strengthening the institution.
