The Sindh government has clarified that e-challan fines in Karachi will not be reduced, ending speculation sparked by reports that officials were considering lowering penalties after widespread public complaints.

Sindh Local Government Minister Nasir Hussain Shah addressed the media on Friday, saying the current fines will remain unchanged. He emphasized that the e-challan system applies only to Karachi residents and urged citizens to follow traffic rules to avoid penalties.

Shah said improving urban services remains a core priority for the provincial government. He noted that the Sindh Solid Waste Management Board is being strengthened, while divisional waste-management boards across the province are being activated to improve cleanliness operations. Efficient garbage collection, he added, must be ensured in all neighborhoods.

Responding to political criticism, the minister said some parties issue statements “just to make noise.” Karachi’s development, he stressed, requires cooperation among political actors rather than confrontation. He reiterated that the provincial government is taking steps to empower local bodies and enhance service delivery.

Shah again ruled out reducing e-challan fines and said all stakeholders must work together to improve traffic management. Enhanced coordination, he noted, is essential for better urban governance and long-term improvement in city services.
