Zahran Mamdani, who made history by winning the New York City mayoral election, delivered an inspiring victory speech, declaring that “hope is still alive” and that there is no room for Islamophobia in the city.

Addressing a cheering crowd after his historic win, Mamdani said the election marked “the triumph of hope over fear” and signaled the end of dynastic politics in New York. “This city is yours, democracy is yours, and the future is in our hands,” he told supporters.

Mamdani thanked the people of New York for voting for change, particularly acknowledging the working class, taxi drivers, and nurses. “We have entered a new era of leadership,” he said, expressing gratitude to more than a thousand volunteers who contributed to his campaign.

In his remarks, the newly elected mayor promised to fight for justice, equality, and security for all citizens. “We will fight for you because we are one of you,” Mamdani stated, emphasizing that everyone’s struggle is shared.

He reaffirmed his commitment to inclusivity, saying, “As a Muslim and a Democratic Socialist, I will build a city government that benefits everyone starting January 1, 2026.” Mamdani vowed to eliminate corruption and ensure fairness in governance.

Directly addressing former U.S. President Donald Trump, Mamdani quipped, “Donald Trump, I know you’re watching — Turn the volume up.” The statement drew laughter and applause from the audience.

Highlighting his pro-labor stance, Mamdani said his administration will stand with unions to protect workers’ rights and honor the contributions of immigrants who have strengthened New York City. He also vowed to dismantle the system that allows billionaires to evade taxes.
