The German government has announced the immediate termination of its Afghan refugee admission program, citing rising security concerns and the alleged involvement of some Afghan refugees in criminal activities.
According to foreign media reports, the decision was taken after German authorities assessed serious security risks linked to the continuation of the program. Officials believe the current situation no longer allows for the safe and controlled entry of Afghan refugees into the country.
As part of the move, Germany has denied entry to 640 Afghan refugees who were previously expected to be admitted. The German Interior Ministry has confirmed that the prospects for further Afghan refugee admissions have now come to an end.
German officials have indicated that security considerations were given top priority in the decision-making process, stressing that public safety cannot be compromised under any circumstances.
The development comes amid broader international concerns regarding Afghanistan. The global community has increasingly limited diplomatic engagement with Afghanistan due to the Taliban’s hardline and extremist policies since returning to power.
Several countries have reviewed or scaled back humanitarian and refugee-related commitments, reflecting growing uncertainty over regional stability and security implications.
