Karachi’s Red Line BRT to Transform City’s Economic and Social Life: CM Murad Ali Shah

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on Sunday said that ongoing development projects, particularly the Red Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), will bring a major transformation in the economic and social life of Karachi.

The chief minister visited several locations to review progress on the under-construction Red Line BRT project, where he monitored development work and received a detailed briefing from officials concerned.

Murad Ali Shah described the Red Line as a strategic public transport initiative aimed at providing citizens with a rapid, safe, and environmentally friendly travel system. He emphasized that no compromise would be made on the quality of development projects being executed in the city.

“The Pakistan Peoples Party has fulfilled its promise of providing modern and safe transport facilities to the people of Karachi. Flyovers, underpasses, bus stations, and service roads are gifts for the general public,” the chief minister stated.

He added that the Red Line project would significantly reduce traffic congestion and improve commuting facilities across the city. Shah stressed that the timely completion of both the Red Line BRT and Shahrah-e-Bhutto projects is essential to providing modern civic amenities to Karachi’s residents.

During the briefing, officials informed the chief minister that the Red Line corridor consists of two phases, with Phase-I extending from Mosmiyat to Malir Halt. In the first phase, seven modern bus stations are being constructed, including Kings Cottage, Safoora, Race Course, Malir Cantt, Tank Chowk, and Tipu Sultan stations.

The chief minister was also told that Tipu Sultan station has been added as an additional facility, while three underpasses are being built at Hydrant, Tipu Sultan, and Safoora as part of Phase-I of the Red Line BRT project.
