Turkish security forces have successfully foiled a major terrorist plot planned around Christmas and New Year celebrations, arresting 115 suspected members of the banned militant group ISIS in a large-scale security operation.

According to Turkish authorities, the detained suspects were allegedly planning attacks during Christmas and upcoming New Year festivities, targeting public gatherings to spread fear and instability.

The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office stated that police conducted coordinated raids at 124 locations across the city. During the operation, 115 suspects were apprehended out of a list of 137 wanted individuals linked to ISIS activities.

Security officials confirmed that several pistols and a quantity of ammunition were also recovered during the raids, highlighting the seriousness of the planned attacks.

Turkish authorities said the operation reflects the country’s zero-tolerance policy toward terrorism and its commitment to ensuring the safety of citizens and visitors, particularly during major religious and public celebrations. Investigations are ongoing to trace remaining suspects and dismantle any further terror networks connected to the plot.
