US Launches Large-Scale Air and Ground Strikes on ISIS Targets in Syria

The United States military has carried out extensive air and ground operations against dozens of ISIS positions across Syria, targeting militant hideouts, infrastructure, and weapons depots, US officials confirmed. The strikes were launched in response to a recent attack on American personnel in the region.

According to US officials, the coordinated offensive focused on ISIS fighters, logistical networks, and arms facilities. The operation has been named “Operation Hawk Eye Strike”, signaling a decisive response to the militant group’s activities in central Syria.

US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth said the action does not mark the beginning of a new war but is a retaliatory operation against hostile forces. He stated that American troops pursued and eliminated enemy elements and warned that similar operations would continue if threats persist.

President Donald Trump said in a social media post that the Syrian government fully supported the strikes, adding that the United States is delivering its strongest response yet against ISIS.

US Central Command (CENTCOM) reported that more than 70 targets were hit in central Syria, with support from Jordanian fighter jets. A US official said the operation involved F-15 and A-10 aircraft, Apache helicopters, and HIMARS rocket systems.

Syria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the country remains committed to the fight against ISIS and vowed that no safe haven for terrorists would be allowed on Syrian territory.

The operation followed last week’s ISIS-linked attack near the ancient city of Palmyra, where a convoy of US and Syrian forces was targeted. The assault killed two American soldiers and a local interpreter, while three other US troops were injured.

The US military says approximately 1,000 American personnel are currently stationed in Syria, working alongside Syrian forces as part of ongoing counter-ISIS operations.
