Pakistan made a strong start to the three-match T20 series by defeating Sri Lanka by six wickets in the opening match, taking a 1-0 lead in the series.

Chasing a modest target of 129 runs, Pakistan comfortably reached the total in the 17th over with the loss of four wickets. The chase was anchored by a confident batting display that ensured there were no major hiccups for the visitors.

Earlier, Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha won the toss and elected to field, a decision that paid dividends as Pakistan’s bowlers kept Sri Lanka under constant pressure. The hosts were bowled out for 128 runs in 19.2 overs, failing to build momentum at any stage of their innings.

For Sri Lanka, Janith Liyanage top-scored with 40 runs, while Wanindu Hasaranga and Charith Asalanka contributed 18 runs each. However, regular wickets prevented Sri Lanka from posting a competitive total.

Pakistan’s bowling attack delivered an impressive performance, with Salman Mirza and Abrar Ahmed claiming three wickets each. Shadab Khan and Mohammad Wasim Jr also played their part, picking up two wickets apiece to dismantle the Sri Lankan batting lineup.

In reply, Sahibzada Farhan led Pakistan’s chase with a match-winning knock of 51 runs off 36 balls. Saim Ayub added 24 runs, while Salman Ali Agha and Fakhar Zaman chipped in before being dismissed. Shadab Khan and Usman Khan remained unbeaten, guiding Pakistan home and sealing a convincing victory.
